Understanding MQ views (9:00 – 12:00)

Mq_views determine how the windows you see in Horizon look and what information is included. Each window you see in Horizon is a ‘view’, or graphical representation of the tables and their data. In this session we will show you how views are structured, how to open views and how to reconfigure views. You will be introduced to the concept of using ‘Alternate Views’ in modules to allow various groups of users to see different screens.

Marc maps (13:00 – 15:00)

Marc_mapping is the way horizon retrieves bibliographic information stored in the MARC records. It is a method of extracting information from a Marc record for display, limiting and indexing. As ‘marc_maps’ is used throughout your entire Horizon system including HIP, the setup can be complex, including multiple sets of maps. We will discuss the logic, steps and patterns used to create marc_maps. The focus is in these specific areas:

Z39.50 Communication (15:15 – 16:30)

Horizon system provides you the ability to search using z39.50 capability. In this session we will explore the setup for the Z39.50 interface. The following areas are covered:

This session will explore working with the catalogue and authority format policies and highlight new features in this area such as:
